Vanushi Walters - Director/Consultant BA/LLB (Hons)(Auckland), MSt(Oxon)
Vanushi has worked with social sector organisations in New Zealand and overseas to grow high performing well connected teams who deliver meaningful impact for more than twenty years.
Vanushi sat as a member of Amnesty International's global board for six years, where she led governance committees on growth in finances, membership and activism as well as human rights policy development. Vanushi provided governance leadership particularly in the Asia Pacific region.
She has worked as an international consultant providing social sector teams in Mongolia, the Philippines and Nepal with governance/management training and coaching.
Over her career Vanushi has practised in public law, litigation, education law, human rights, employment law and consumer law. She has worked in the private sector, the public sector as well as the not for profit sector.
Most recently Vanushi was the General Manager of YouthLaw Aotearoa, a National Community Law Centre for children and young people in New Zealand and was the Vice Chair of Action for Children and Youth Aotearoa.
She holds an honours law degree from the University of Auckland and a Masters in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford.
Vanushi continues to sit on one of Amnesty's Global Committee's (Membership Review) as its Chair/Coordinator, as well as sitting as the ethnic sector policy representative on the New Zealand Labour Party Policy Council. She also runs a sole legal practice.
